Both the Callington Recreation Ground and the Uraidla Football Club are set to receive funds to each build four new light towers and high quality LED lights.

Under the latest round of the State Government’s Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program, 41 projects have received a share in more than $5.5M.

The Callington Recreation Ground Community Centre is receiving $100,000, while the footy club in Uraidla is receiving $143,400.

An audit last February showed the Callington venue was unfit for night winter sports practice. The centre has posted about the news online, saying they will be advocating for more funds to make up the $200,000 shortfall and will be advocating for the investment so they can have night cricket matches too.

Other recipients of this round’s grant program include the Bridgewater and Langhorne Cricket Clubs, the Onkaparinga Netball Club, Crafers Sports Club, Piccadilly Valley Community Recreation Centre, Mid Hills Netball Association, Tatachilla Lutheran College and Mypolonga Combined Sports Club.

The Mypolonga Club has received the biggest share, of $500,000, to construct two unisex changerooms, umpire changerooms, netball amenities, timekeepers’ box and a canteen.
