Alexandrina Council’s Chief Executive Officer has resigned to take up a senior leadership local government job in metropolitan Melbourne.

Nigel Morris said he will become Director of Customer and Transformation at Boroondara Council after working in the Fleurieu Peninsula for the past eight and a half years, first as Yankalilla Council’s CEO, then Alexandrina Council’s CEO from May 2022.

“It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been given the absolute honour of leading this amazing Council Administration and being a part of this Council and Community,” Morris said.

“We are on track to deliver not only the current year’s $22 million capital program but also catch up on over $20 million from previous years’ projects, including the decade long-discussed Goolwa Wharf Revitalisation, which is now set to be delivered in October 2024.”

Mayor Keith Parkes thanked his CEO for his service and his commitment to the community.

“To deliver more than $5 million in operational savings in the past 18 months is an outstanding effort. He has also stepped in to oversee several ongoing major projects, including the Goolwa Wharf Precinct upgrade, and has reined in expenditure in a high-cost market to achieve the best outcomes for our community,” Mayor Parkes said.

“Nigel has also brought about a positive change in the organisational culture of Council and I have great confidence in the professional and dedicated executive team he has built up during his time with us.”

Morris will finish his current role at the end of July 2024.
