Drink Driving Charges for Mt Barker Woman

A woman from Mount Barker has been reported for drink driving following a crash on the South Eastern Freeway.

Police were called to a two-car crash at Hahndorf just before 7pm yesterday, Thursday 20 June.

It is alleged the driver of a Hyundai SUV was travelling in the right-hand lane on the freeway and collided with another vehicle travelling in the left lane when she attempted to change lanes.

The 40-year-old driver allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.176 – more than three times the legal limit.

The elderly couple in the other car, a man and woman both aged 87, were not physically injured in the crash.

The Mount Barker woman also escaped injury.

She was reported for drink driving and changing lanes to danger and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court at a later date.

Both cars were towed from the scene.
