NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held throughout Australia from Sunday 7 July to Sunday 14 July 2024, to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge will host the annual NAIDOC Bridge Walk and Awards Ceremony 2024 in recognition of Australia’s First Nations people. The annual walk across the bridge is symbolic of bridging the divide between cultures and people in the community. Together we work towards healing.

The theme for 2024 ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud invites the nation to honour the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture. Fire is the symbol of connection to Country and to each other. It signifies the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

NAIDOC week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support the local First Nations community. This is an opportunity for our community to come together, learn the history, celebrate the achievements and honour one of the oldest living cultures on our planet.
