Construction is underway for the new $320.8M Mount Barker Hospital.
The new facility will triple current inpatient capacity at Mount Barker and District Soldier’s Memorial Hospital from 34 to 102 beds and will increase carparking for the growing region.
A range of temporary buildings, civil and services infrastructure provisions are being constructed along with car park alterations.
Part of the early works will allow a brand-new multi-deck park from midway through 2025. Once complete, the site’s total car parking capacity will be 654 spaces, up from 431.
Specialist beds for maternity service, paediatric care, mental health care, palliative care and rehabilitation will be complemented with contemporary operating theatres, chemotherapy and renal dialysis services on site.
It is hoped the increased capacity of the hospital will support the needs of the fastest growing community in the state and will help ease demand at major metropolitan hospitals by reducing the need for Adelaide Hills residents to travel to the city.
Construction company Built has been appointed to the project after delivering the new Emergency Department onsite in 2023.
