More Queensland fruit flies have been detected in Glynde, North-east of Adelaide, triggering a longer quarantine for fruit growers within the yellow zone.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) have announced the new end date for quarantine to 19 October 2025. It was previously set to end in May.
Movement restrictions for fruit involve a 1.5km red zone and 15km yellow suspension zone, which was implemented in January.
Some Adelaide Hills fruit growers will continue to be impacted by the restrictions. Uraidla’s Adelaide Hills Berry Farm recently shut shop after the strict rules were too prohibitive for their business model of selling most of their fruit at the Adelaide Farmer’s Market.
