Police have made a dramatic arrest in Murray Bridge after an alleged thief was caught breaking into a Clara Street home.
After a member of the public reported that a house was being broken into at around 3.50pm on Thursday 21 September, patrols visited the Clara Street address.
When they arrived they could hear noises coming from inside and spotted a man exit the home. A quick foot chase ensued and a suspect was arrested a short time later.
Police allegedly located a pocket knife and a small tomahawk on the suspect, along with jewellery from the Clara Street home. It is alleged he was also carrying items stolen from a Murray Bridge department store.
A 42-year-old man local was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, carrying an offensive weapon and unlawful possession. He was refused police bail ahead of a court date on Friday.
