Early investigations into a grass fire in Nangkita today, which threatened to destroy an asset and become difficult to control, have shown that a drone may be to blame.
A CFS spokesperson said the fire is believed to have started after a power line was felled by a drone just after 11am.
Approximately 40 CFS firefighters on 8 trucks and 3 support vehicles, along with 6 aircraft including firebombers and observational aircraft, attended to the fire.
The fire prompted a Watch and Act message for surrounding areas such as the Nangkita Hills at 11:35am, with the fire burning in a northwesterly direction.
Crews managed to contain the blaze within 90 minutes of it starting, with the message downgraded as a result.
