It was a tough day to be a defending champion across our regions on Saturday, as new contenders put their hand up early in the new season. Read about it all here:

MURRAY TOWNS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

Mannum have handed Mypolonga their first defeat of the season in their grand final rematch on Saturday, as part of Round 4 action in the Murray Towns Cricket Association.

The Kookaburras bowled superbly to keep the high-powered Tigers to just 104, before they chased it down with four wickets in hand. 

Other matches saw Meningie beat Monarto in a high scoring thriller, winning by 1 wicket with 3 balls to spare, while the Wanderers easily beat Tailem Bend by 9 wickets.

ALEXANDRA & EASTERN HILLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

Langhorne Creek are the last remaining undefeated side left in the Alexandra and Eastern Hills Cricket Association, after they defeated Lobethal by 4 wickets in Round 5 action on Saturday. 

Chasing 192 for victory in the grand final rematch, the Tigers made it home with 10 balls to spare in large part due to Jaspa Tonkin, who guided his side with an impressive 80.

Other highlights from the round saw Strathalbyn climb into the top 4 with a 4-wicket win over fellow contender Macclesfield, while Nairne and Woodside tallied comfortable wins.

Scott Creek Ironbank and Aldgate have both remained undefeated with wins over top 4 contenders in Round 4 action on Saturday.

SCI sent a strong statement with their win, beating defending champions Stirling by 25 runs after they made 213 in their innings first up.

Other results from the round saw Kangarilla beat Mylor by one wicket on the final ball in a thriller, while Mount Lofty cruised past Meadows.

GREAT SOUTHERN CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

Yankalilla are on the cusp of an important top-4 victory after day one’s action against Willunga, in the Great Southern Cricket Association on Saturday. 

Opener Aaron Smith made 83 as Yankalilla were dismissed for 200, however 3 quick wickets in the last 6 overs has them in the box seat ahead of day two next week, with Willunga now sitting at 3/20.

The individual highlight of the association’s play came from Noarlunga’s Cameron Bullard, who made 113 off just 104 deliveries as the Shoes posted 215 against Myponga/Sellicks. 

Other matches saw McLaren Districts make 8/260 from their 70 overs against Mount Compass, while Encounter Bay are on track to remain top after they dismissed Goolwa for 114; they are 2/38 in reply.
