Olives grown in Mypolonga and Mount Torrens have been recognised on a global stage.
The olives at local company Rio Vista Olives make up Hardy’s Mammoth Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which swept the recent Australian International Olive Awards, including taking out the top prize against international competition.
The awards have come in the midst of low yields for Rio Vista, with General Manager Jared Bettio saying the recognition is a testament to the hard work behind the scenes.
The local company has been up and running since 1996 in Mypolonga, with the Bettio’s taking the reins in 2016 and adding the Mount Torrens site to the enterprise.
