Police are treating a Gymnasium fire at Port Elliot this morning as suspicious, following examinations from the Victor Harbour CIB and Fire Cause Investigators.
Just after midnight, Friday 17 April, police and fire crews were called to Hill Street after reports that a gymnasium was on fire. MFS and CFS moved quickly and were able to extinguish the fire, however not before it caused substantial damage to the building and neighbouring premises.
The CFS issued a smoke warning this morning for the region, encouraging anyone with respiratory issues to steer clear of the area or seek medical attention if needed.
Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
