Aurora enthusiasts have been treated to a spectacular sky overnight.
The phenomenon in the Southern Hemisphere is usually only seen in Tasmania, but the lights were visible across many Australian cities and towns late on Monday night, due to the biggest geo-magnetic storm in almost two decades.
Pictures of the Southern Lights with bright pink, red and purple hues, have been taken from across the region, including in Strathalbyn, Port Elliot, Mount Barker, Aldinga and Old Reynella.
